Birthday Party Fun!

Here are some pictures from Korbens birthday party last week at The Little Gym. I stole a few from Haley and Laura (hope you girls don't mind). :) We had a lot of fun and I think it was a hit! We weren't allowed to open presents there because it was supposedly a safety hazard but otherwise, we had a great party and Korben got to open his presents as soon as we got home so it all worked out just fine. :) I still can't believe my little boy is 2 years old!

(FYI: there's a video at the end with music so be sure to pause the blog music at the bottom of the page before you start it) :)

Sweet Reid wasn't too little to join in on the fun!

A Letter to Korben

My Sweet Korben,

I still cannot wrap my mind around the fact that it has already been 2 years since you were born! I remember the day we found out about you like it was yesterday. I stared at those 2 pink lines for what seemed like forever. And then I cried. Tears of joy of course. I remember feeling you kick and move inside of my tummy... that was my absolute favorite part of being pregnant with you! As you got bigger and stronger, you kicked harder and harder. Daddy and I loved putting things on my tummy and watching you kick them right off! You never cooperated when we tried 4 different times to do a 4D sonogram. I should have known then that you would end up being so strong willed! You also showed your stubbornness when you were born because you didn't want to come on your own. But you did come and when you did, I was the happiest I had ever been! I still remember your first smiles, the first time you laughed (your proud emotional mama cried at that milestone), the time I felt your first tooth come in, how you did that cute army crawl forever before crawling on all fours, your first words, and your first steps (I cried at that one too). Today, you are an active wild child full of energy with lots to say and you already have an opinion on so many things! Your strong willed spirit is as strong as ever but that's part of the specific and perfect design your Big Daddy gave you when He created you and I wouldn't have it any other way! I love watching you enjoy the things you do in life. How you get that surprised, excited look on your face when the phone rings or somebody knocks on the door and you say, "Who's that?!" I love seeing you get excited whenever you see a character you like... right now your favorites are Mickey Mouse, Pooh Bear, Handy Manny, and The Wiggles. I love watching your face light up when you get to take a bath and brush your teeth... one of your favorite parts of the day! I love taking you to Little Gym every Saturday morning and watching you explore! I love watching you wrestle with Daddy...another one of your favorites! And I love hearing you say, "I lolve lu!" Raising you and watching you grow up these last 2 years has brought me happiness I cannot put into words. You are a joy, Korben Hugh Chaney and I am so proud, glad, and thankful that our Big Daddy chose and allowed me to be your Mommy! I cannot wait to see what the next year brings for you! Happy Birthday, my sweet son! I love you to the moon and back a thousand times!

Best Day Ever!

This past Thursday I turned 27...and I got the best birthday present ever... snow! I'm not normally a fan of winter and cold weather but it turns out I am a huge fan of that cold white fluffy stuff called snow! I know I sound like a cheese ball but I really am in awe of the awesomeness of it! It is absolutely gorgeous to look at and so much fun to play in! I've only been up north during the summer months and I've never been snow skiing or anything so seeing this kind of snow was a first for me. Korben and I went out in it first thing in the morning and when we came back inside, it didn't take him more than 10 minutes to bring me his jacket and shoes and ask to go back out in the "stow" as Korben so called it! I could go on and on and on about my new found love, but in respect of your time, I won't! Instead, I'll leave you with a few pictures from the best day ever! Well, 2 days really since we went out again on Friday. :)

When Daddy got home, Korben went sledding on the lid of a storage container. That was by far his favorite part of the snow!

Footprints in the snow :)

And just for the record, I did get other birthday presents. Josh had a new Dyson Ball Animal vacuum hiding in the closet and later that day, I got flowers and a candy basket delivered to the door! And Korben gave me a new game for my Nintendo DS. Since the weather was bad, we didn't go out to Olive Garden like I usually like to do on my birthday but I love Boston Market and rarely get to eat it so Josh brought some on his way home from work! It was truly a birthday I will always remember!

Korben Cuteness: Part 2

I'm not as good as Haley at getting cute pictures of my sleeping kiddo like she is because I'm always afraid of waking Korben up, but here are a couple that I thought I'd share. :)

In other "Korben Cuteness" news (for those of you who haven't seen this story on facebook), yesterday we were at the Barnes & Noble Cafe and I was eating a soft pretzel. Korben wanted some so I tore some up and put it on a napkin for him. Korben then rolled up his napkin with the pretzel inside, called it a burrito and tried to eat it! I guess he likes burritos no matter how they come!

Prank Call or Korben Mischief?

Monday morning I awoke to the awful buzzing of our alarm clock at 6:00am even though Josh didn't need to get up for work so early that morning and swears he didn't set it. I just said, "Ok" and left it at that even though I was really thinking, "Right, our alarm clock all of a sudden came alive and decided to set itself!" Anyhow, I only mention this because I've been trying for quite some time to catch on some much missed and needed sleep. The day before, I actually got a 3 hour nap in and thought I would go to bed at a fairly decent hour and that night was THE night I was going to finally get some sleep! Then the stupid alarm mysteriously went off all by itself.

Well last night I had the same thoughts of maybe actually getting some sleep. Korben fell asleep at 8:30 last night for the first time in a while (He has been staying up much later the past couple of weeks) and I thought, "Ok, this is for sure the night!" I even checked the alarm to make sure it was NOT on before I went to bed. Sure enough, at 6am this morning, the alarm did NOT go off...... but the phone sure did ring! At first, I was just angry. But as I started listening to Josh talk to the lady who had so rudely called our house so early in the morning, I got curious. He was saying things like, "United States... Texas" and he ended up hanging up on her. When I asked him who it was, he said he didn't know but she didn't speak very good English and wanted to know where she was calling and claimed that we called her first. And then the phone rang again and Josh again tried to tell her he didn't know her and didn't call her and hung up again. But the phone rang again, and again, and again! She seriously called back about 5 times! Listening to Josh talk to this obviously crazy lady made me laugh so hard! Finally after she asked Josh a million times where she was calling and why we called her, Josh asked HER where she lived and according to her, our caller lives in the Philippines! What in the world?? The Philippines??? Really?? Needless to say, Josh and I both just started laughing hysterically!! Anyhow, Josh apologized to her for the misunderstanding and she finally accepted that we honestly had no idea what she was talking about and she quit calling.

So one of 2 conclusions can be drawn from this: 1) God has a very big sense of humor and is using different methods to keep me from getting my sleep and He is getting a good laugh from His newest idea to use a crazy prank caller to do just as such! Or 2) Korben decided to get into some serious mischief yesterday and made a veeerrry long distance phone call! Let's just say that I'm not hoping for the latter of the two! Josh tried looking up our phone bill online but it would only let us see our last bill that's already due this month... so I guess it will be another month before we have our answer!
