Vocabulary Lesson

This may be quite a boring post for some of you... it's really for me... I haven't been too good at documenting Korbens milestones so this is really just kink of for that purpose. At just 17 months of age, Korben can say quite a few words... some are clear as day and some not so much to the untrained ear! And getting him to say things when you want him to is a challenge within itself! Anyhow, I'm sure I'll forget to list a word or two, but this is at least the majority of what Korben says:

Mama

Dada

Mommy

Pops

Grandpa (gan-poo)

Bird (bur)

Bear

Fishie (ishy)

Doggie

Sam (Sa-a)

Poo Poo

Diaper (by-pur)

Blueberry (bluh-bluh)

Apple Sauce (saw-saw)

Banana (na-na)

Cracker (cack-oo)

Juice (oose)

Milk (mek)

Water (wa wa)

Outside (ow-sigh)

Slide (sigh)

Bubbles (bub-oo)

Again (gin)

Uh-Oh

Oh No!

Amen

Ball

Hat

Hi

Bye

Thank You (dank-ee)

Up please (uh-ee)

Shoes

I know I'm completely bias... but doesn't that seem like quite a few words for a 17 month old? I personally think the boy is a genius! :) We are so proud of our big boy!

My Type of Summer Zoo!

Man I love Wednesdays! Josh is off of work and we get a chance to actually be a family and spend some time together as such! This past Wednesday, we went to the Dallas World Aquarium. I have never been there in the 7 years that I've lived in DFW and have always wanted to go... and I figured Korben was old enough to actually enjoy it this year. It was so nice because practically the whole thing is INDOORS.... a great zoo experience to enjoy during these crazy hot Texas summers!! And though it's mostly aquatic life, there are also birds and monkeys and and a few other things that don't live in the water so it really was just like an indoor zoo! Korben just learned the word "bird" so everything went from being a doggie to being a bird that day! It was such a fun trip!

Guess I didn't actually get a picture of the monkeys... but this was their area

Josh got to feed the toucan a blueberry

Turtles!

"Mom, do you SEE all those fish??"

Reaching up to "touch" the sharks!

I love my mommy....

....and then I attack my mommy!

Flamingos!

Afterwards, we enjoyed a nice lunch at the Mayan Cafe....
I had some delicious chimichangas

Josh had the quesadillas...mmmm

And Korben was wondering how in the world he was going to eat all of those nachos!

He gave it a valiant effort! :)

And then decided to wear his to-go box :)

Boys will be....boys??

It's no secret that Korben has a shoe fetish, but let's try to ignore the fact that he sometimes enjoys wearing girls shoes, shall we??

Swimming with Jade and Hannah

Ok, I'm still behind on my blogging... I still can't seem to post stuff AS it happens but there is just so much going on during the summer! Anyhow, a week or two ago, we made another visit to the community pool with friends Jennie and her daughter, Jade, and Laura and her daughter, Hannah. For those of you who don't know the background on how we all met, I met Jennie on the cruise that Josh and I went on a couple of years ago. We all sat at the same dinner table and when we were talking about where we were from, etc, Jennie said that she and her husband, Eric, lived in Rowlett! We've been friends since. :) And Laura is a friend that I met through Jennie... and she happens to live on the street right behind us... such a small world we live in! Anyhow, we all had a great time at the pool with our sweet kiddos! They all really had a great time playing in the water with each other! After swimming, Laura invited us over to her house for lunch and then it was home to take a long nap! Thanks for a great day Jennie and Laura! Oh and Jennie, I know you asked if I was going to post a certain picture of my darling son being "goofy" at Lauras house and the answer is yes... it will be in an upcoming post. :)

Sweet Jade enjoying the water

Don't let this look on sweet Hanna fool you... she was ALL over that pool and loving it! :)

Jade to Korben: "This is the right way to splash!"

Hannah to Korben: "Hey, look at me when I'm talking to you, mister!"

3 of the cutest kids ever!!
